Text Box:                                              CYO & GMHL  Breaking News May 18, 2007   The GMHL has notified the CHPA of its intention to expand from 12 teams in 2007/08 to 16 teams for the 2008/09 JR "A' hockey season. GMHL president Bob Russell confirmed today that the Oshawa / Whitby CYO could ice a team for next season.   "It is now up to the CYO's president Terry Ruddell and his executive to put in place what is required to bring a JR "A" team into Whitby," said Russell.   The CHPA has learned that Kitchener / Cambridge & Peterborough are also being considered as possible new locations.   The GMHL had 27 players from the 2006/07 season that have received NCAA college offers.  The league is entering its second full season with the addition of five more teams for a total of twelve JR "A" teams for 2007/08.
