Why do you come to the CHPA? To start, you love hockey, and most importantly, you love your hockey playing child or children. But that isn’t all?

There are plenty of resources at your disposal here at the CHPA. And since we have recently undergone a revamp of the site, I am going to give a detailed navigational breakdown. There may be something from the old site you cannot find, or you may discover some new features.

The Home Page

The homepage supports all the major links of the site. The top right links all lead to different pages I will get into later, and just below are quick links to your favourite search engines.

Along the left we have CHPA sponsors and advertisers that help keep the CHPA running as well as help us help others in need in the hockey community, so please give them some attention as well.

The middle, and main section, is our hockey news and links. The left (orange) column is all the CHPA’s news written by board members, and volunteers around the country. This section is updated the most frequently and is there to keep hockey parents informed. If you have a news article this season about your team winning a tournament, send us a picture and we will tell the story, or if you see something in the arenas worth reporting, please write up an article and lessen the burden on our current article writers.

The right (blue) column is headed with minor hockey highlights. These links could be the latest update from your hockey community, or updates on clinics for volunteers across the country. If you have, or know of, a tournament or clinic in your area, send me the link and I will happily post it.
The lower (blue) section is the latest in NHL news, as well as standings, schedules, and statistics. These quick links are convenient for hockey lovers across the country.

The last section on the home page is GH’s Speak Out section, where the Advisory Director speaks out about current issues that no one else will touch.

The Resources Page

I want to get this one out of the way quickly, because it seems many people are having a hard time finding it. The link to this page can be found under the (orange) news section just to the right of the ‘News Archive’ link. Here you can find a Game Sheet to print off, a printable Coaches’ Board, two Links pages with thousands of links, as well as the Class Action. We are trying our best to come up with new hockey resources, and if you have any ideas for this page, please email me.

The Minor Hockey Message Board

The message board seems to be a place where not only members discuss their own issues, but ask questions about the CHPA and other hockey organizations’ directions. Some members post their comments about current news, whether on our site or not and make for legitimate conversation about an issue. The message board is a great place to get clarification, discuss, or bring up issues, or news, in minor hockey. It has something for everyone.

The Tournaments Page

The tournaments page has a list of quick links that lead to tournament listings in Canada. If you want your tournament listings page linked to our page, contact us and we will see what we can do.

The Standings Page

This page is simply another set of quick links that lead to standings pages of different associations. More additions can also be made here if we are contacted.

The Kids’ Games Page

It is not a site just for parents, but players too. Players across Canada can come to the site on their own and entertain themselves with many hockey related games. Parents can even have some fun if they wish, or they can sit down with their child and enjoy themselves as a family.

The Hockey Drills Page

This page is updated infrequently, but does get updated every now and again. There are many different drills to help coaches improve players during practice.

The Hockey Schools Page

This page is a list of hockey schools that could be near you. Some of the best hockey schools are listed here at the CHPA, so check them out. If you want your hockey school listed, contact us.

The News Archive Page

Plain and simple, it is an archive of all the news articles posted on the CHPA. Click the ‘Old Site’ link for the news articles of previous site designs.

The About Us Page

The CHPA’s Definition, Mission Statement, and Objectives. Just a little about us.

The Partners Page

A list of partners who support (or advertise with) the CHPA, without them, we would have a hard time operating.

The Privacy Policy and Legal Disclaimer Pages

Legal stuff that is probably rarely read, but it may be in your best interest to go over these pages.

Overview

The CHPA does its best to update regularly, to keep hockey parents informed, as well as feature many different resources and links to help parents, players and coaches alike.

As I have stated in the past, this site is all about you, the parents. So any suggestions of what you would like to see improved or added to the site are always noted. We also love it when parents get involved by writing articles – we love hearing about your point of view, or successes of your child’s team.
